WHAT DOES THE LONG PULSE YAG DO?
Long Pulsed YAG Laser allows the practitioner to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, and vascular lesions by using laser energy. The treatment is tailored to match one’s skin condition and desired result. All skin areas can be treated with the LPY laser. The laser gives energy to the skin, which is absorbed by blood vessels, port wine stains, hemangiomas, angiomas and other vascular lesions. This relatively quick, comfortable procedure can eliminate blood vessels by precise tissue heating, i.e. energy is directed toward the vessels alone and does not alter the surrounding skin.
Usually, the vessels collapse during the treatment session, but there may be some post-treatment redness and swelling. On occasion, it may take several days to see the vessel/color fade or additional treatment may be needed.
Following treatment sessions with aggressive sun protection practices may produce longer-lasting results and prevent formation of similar lesions.

Reaches deeper veins the 1064 nm wavelength penetrates further than shorter-wavelength lasers, reaching vessels below the surface, including stubborn leg veins.
Targets blood, not skin 1064 nm light is absorbed strongly by hemoglobin but only minimally by melanin, so it collapses the vessel while largely sparing surrounding skin.
Safer on darker or tanned skin that low melanin absorption makes it one of the safer vascular options across skin tones.
Your body finishes the work the treated vessel is gradually reabsorbed over the following weeks.
One platform, complete correction on the Spectrum, the same device can also treat the pigment or redness around the veins.

FAQ
What does the vascular laser treat?
The Long-Pulsed YAG laser treats spider veins, small leg and facial veins, broken capillaries, rosacea-related redness, cherry angiomas, and other benign vascular lesions.
How does laser vein removal work?
The 1064 nm laser delivers energy that's absorbed by the blood in the vessel, heating it so it collapses. Your body then gradually reabsorbs the treated vessel over the following weeks.
How many treatments will I need?
Many people see improvement after just 1–2 treatments, and a series of about 3 is typical for fuller clearance. Leg veins generally take 8–12 weeks to fully resolve, and veins lower on the body can be more stubborn.
Does it hurt, and is there downtime?
Discomfort is minimal to none. Afterward you may have temporary redness, mild swelling, and occasionally minor bruising, but downtime is minimal.
Is the vascular laser safe for darker or tanned skin?
The 1064 nm wavelength is absorbed strongly by blood but only minimally by melanin, which makes it one of the safer vascular laser options across a range of skin tones. Your provider will confirm at consultation.
Am I a good candidate?
Good candidates include people with spider veins, cherry angiomas, matted or superficial vessels, and visible broken capillaries. Large bulging varicose veins are a different condition and may need a vein specialist — your consultation will clarify the best path.
What is the aftercare?
Avoid strenuous exercise for 48–72 hours; hot baths, saunas, and hot tubs for about five days; and sun exposure for four weeks, using SPF. Avoid leg waxing for six weeks and blood thinners for five days only with your doctor's clearance.
Will the veins come back?
Treated vessels are permanently reabsorbed, but new spider veins can form over time, so occasional maintenance may be helpful. Diligent sun protection helps prolong your results.
How much does spider vein treatment cost?
It depends on the size and number of vessels treated; we provide pricing at your complimentary consultation, and treatment may sometimes be done the same day. CareCredit financing is available.
