Do our lips change as we age?
The production of collagen is significantly affected by the aging process, resulting in a decrease in the plumpness and elasticity of our lips. You will be delighted to discover that there exists a non-surgical and minimally-invasive solution to enhance your beauty and achieve fuller smiles like never before: the lip flip.
This innovative procedure for lip augmentation has gained popularity among individuals seeking a simple, cost-effective, temporary, and subtle yet alluring method to create the illusion of a pouty, fuller upper lip. Unlike more invasive and more permanent options such as fillers, THE LIP FLIP offers a convenient alternative.
What is the Lip Flip?
The Lip Flip is a technique by which the muscle fibers around the mouth are made to relax. These muscles, called the “orbicularis oris,” relax when injected with Botox. The relaxation of these muscle fibers causes the lip to roll outward naturally, or “flip,” which gives the appearance of more lip volume without increasing the size of the lip. This differs from lip filler since no volume (filler is added). You lip appears fuller and more voluminous.
The Botox/Xeomin injections are strategically placed so that only certain sections of the orbicularis oris are affected. Just the superficial layers of the muscle are injected at the top of the lips. The muscle can continue to function normally without interference, while targeted muscle fibers relax and allow the lip to flip for a fuller look.
The lip flip requires precision injections to achieve the desired results without experiencing unwanted side effects. Because the injections relax the muscle fibers, a precise amount of Botox or Xeomin is needed in specific areas. Too much can cause problems with muscle movement. Your lips would look very smooth; however, you would not be able to move them properly. Too little and the results will be short-lived. At Soul to Soul, you can expect excellent results. LeAnn is a highly skilled, advanced practice nurse. Her skill and expertise ensure that your lip flip will look good without impairing the normal function of your lips.
Before and After a Lip Flip
Lip Filler differs from a lip flip because dermal filler are injected to increase the volume of the lips and to shape the lips. The choice between a lip flip, lip filler or getting both treatments done ultimately depends on your expectations and goals. How is lip filler different than a lip flip?
It's important to note that the results of a LIP Flip are temporary and typically last for approximately 8-12 weeks. This is because the small amount of Botox used in the treatment and the high activity of the lip muscles contribute to a quicker wearing off of the effect compared to other areas where Botox is injected.
How long does a LIPFLIP last?
It typically takes around a week up to two weeks for the results of a LIP Flip to become noticeable, although some patients may start seeing visible effects within a few days of the treatment. In addition to a more pronounced upper lip contour, you may also observe that your lip doesn't lift and thin out as much when you smile, thanks to the relaxed muscle.
How fast will I see results?
Patients may experience a temporary sensation of heaviness in the lip after the Botox lip flip procedure. This is a normal occurrence and indicates that the Botox has started to take effect. During this time, activities such as pursing the lips, pronouncing certain words, drinking from a straw, and eating may require some adjustment as the lip muscles adapt to the treatment. However, patients usually become accustomed to the modified lip function within a week and do not experience any further complications.
