WHAT IS Q-SWITCH TATTOO FADING AND REMOVAL?

Our laser tattoo removal technique utilizes targeted light beams that work like a chisel, breaking down and fragmenting the ink. This allows your body to gradually absorb the smaller ink particles, leading to their eventual disappearance over time.
The Q Switched laser has been determined as the Gold Standard for tattoo removal.  A Q-Switch laser may also be used to treat pigmented lesions including age spots, freckles, sunspots and some birthmarks, as it targets the melanin in the superficial layer of your skin. This technology emits high-powered laser pulses with remarkable precision, ensuring that there is no thermal effect on the surrounding tissues. As a result, it minimizes damage to adjacent tissues while effectively targeting only the pigments of the tattoo ink. Additionally, this approach leads to a faster and more straightforward healing process.

Spectrum’s Q-switch which has a unique design that employs dual wavelengths to eliminate more tattoo color pigments in less time than lasers that use a single wavelength. Laser tattoo removal is non-invasive.
A Q-switched laser represents the sole technology capable of reaching the dermis to effectively break down tattoo ink through photoacoustic waves, all while preserving the integrity of the surrounding skin tissue. Other techniques either fail to adequately target and eliminate the ink or inflict excessive damage to the skin, leading to scarring. The wavelengths of 1064nm and 532nm can address more than 80% of tattoo colors.

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THE Q-SWITCH LASER?

When will I see results? How long do they last?

The duration of tattoo removal sessions vary based on several factors, including the size and complexity of the tattoo, the method of removal used, and the individual's skin type. Typically, each session lasts between 20 to 60 minutes, but this can differ significantly depending on the specific circumstances.

It is important to note that multiple sessions are often required to achieve satisfactory results, with intervals of several weeks between each appointment to allow the skin to heal. Therefore, the overall timeline for complete tattoo removal can extend over several months or even years, depending on the tattoo's characteristics and the chosen removal technique. The sessions are scheduled six to eight weeks apart, providing your skin with adequate time to recover from the treatment. Many individuals notice a gradual fading of their ink after each session, with more significant improvements typically observed after three appointments. With this interval between sessions, you can anticipate seeing results emerge a few months into the treatment process. The duration of treatments can vary from several minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated and the effectiveness of the numbing process. The number of sessions required for tattoo removal is influenced by three primary factors: the age of the tattoo, the ink color, and the ink density.

Age:
Generally, older tattoos require fewer sessions for removal compared to newer ones. For instance, a black ink tattoo that is a decade old may need one or two fewer treatments than a tattoo that is only one year old. A tattoo that is 20 years old could require two to three fewer sessions than a one-year-old tattoo, while a brand new tattoo (one month old) is typically easier to remove.

Color:
The ease of removal varies by color, with black and red tattoos being the simplest to eliminate.
Colors such as orange, yellow, and pink present moderate challenges, while light green, light blue, and teal/turquoise are the most difficult to remove.
Location:
The effectiveness of tattoo removal is also affected by the body's ability to eliminate the fragmented ink particles. Areas with lower blood circulation, such as the toes, fingers, ears, and nose, may exhibit slower results.

Ink Density:
Tattoos that incorporate shading are generally easier to remove. For example, some letter tattoos use shading to enhance the outlines, while others may use shading for visual effects like clouds. In most cases, shading can be eliminated in just a few sessions.

Recommended 6-10 treatments.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR TATTOO FADING OR REMOVAL WITH THE Q-SWITCH?

The process of laser tattoo removal is generally not painful; however, some discomfort is a typical reaction during both the procedure and the recovery phase. The treated areas may become tender and sensitive due to subsequent swelling and blistering. As these symptoms diminish over the following days, so too will any associated pain. Right after the procedure, you may observe a frosting effect on the skin where the laser interacted with the ink. This phenomenon occurs due to the rapid heating of skin pigment, which releases carbon dioxide and creates a white, frosted appearance. This marks the initial phase of healing and typically lasts only a few minutes. Darker inks tend to produce more frosting than lighter ones, and this is often accompanied by swelling in the surrounding area. Redness, tenderness, and swelling usually resolve within one to two days post-treatment. Blisters may begin to form within 24 hours, and while they may seem concerning, they are a sign that your body is healing properly. It is important to refrain from picking at the blisters, as they will naturally drain and dry into scabs. The crust will eventually shed within 10 to 14 days, provided the area remains unbothered. Most individuals can resume their normal activities shortly after the procedure, and the treated area will be covered with a bandage to keep it dry for a few days following the treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The duration of tattoo removal sessions vary based on several factors, including the size and complexity of the tattoo, age of the tattoo, ink density and location, and the individual's skin type.
